ABOUT YOUR DIRECTOR

Mrs. Minard is a National Board Certified teacher in her 24th year as Choir Director at United Township High School, East Moline.  She also teaches World Drumming and dual credit Music Appreciation with Black Hawk College and extra-curricular groups such as Vocal Jazz and Madrigal Singers, and has directed the Panther Players Musical Orchestra, Vocals, and Choreography.  She recently began the Career Pathways program for students exploring the profession of Education.

Mrs. Minard is currently pursuing an EdD in Educational Studies from University of Northern Colorado, and hopes to finish her career working more in educator preparation. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Augustana College, and Master’s Degree in Music Education at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she also taught and worked as a counselor for the Illinois Summer Youth Music Camps.  She began her teaching career in Rock Island, grades K-8.

Mrs. Minard is a member of NafME, ACDA, and ILMEA where she serves as an adjudicator, and has held various committee positions.  She is also a member of DKG Beta Epsilon Chapter, a women teacher's honor society, where she recently served as President.  And when time allows, she plays with Quad City Flutes Unlimited.
Family life: Hanging out with husband, Bill, and daughters, Maddy & Lexi...following them around to their activities wearing my "Team Minard" shirt and taking pictures.

            Favorite color: Purple
Things to bribe me with: Chocolate milk, cherry Hershey kisses
Things that fascinate me:  1)Music and Dreaming.  2)The fascinating and vast power of the human body and how we're created for far more than we know; but it's fun trying to reach that potential
Next vacation: After hiking the back-country in Rocky Mountain National Park in 2012,  there are so many more National Parks I want to get to.  I've made it to 14 National Parks and several other National monuments/preserves. I hope to hike the John Muir Trail, the Grand Canyon, and the Wonderland Trail in the near future.  Perhaps there will be some international hiking in Spain or Switzerland, too.
